Search Zero-Results as a Portal Signal
When developers search your portal and get nothing, they rarely open a ticket. They leave, ask a colleague, or invent a workaround. Logging zero-result queries โ with volume, timestamp, and whether the visitor was signed in โ gives your docs team a backlog that reflects real intent.
Cluster synonyms, track repeats, and tie spikes to releases that renamed endpoints. Pair the list with a monthly triage: create a page, add an alias, or fix a broken redirect.
It is not glamorous analytics. It is the kind that quietly raises activation when you act on it.
